XXXX IPA Reviewed in Sweden!

We have been receiving a lot of great feedback about the Pugsley's Signature Series XXXX IPA, including this recent review on twinbeer.com all the way from Sweden. Here is what a little of what they had to say about XXXX IPA:
"Yes, occasionally we get the hardcore stuff over here in Sweden. Recently the state run liquor store took in a limited run of this, the Pugsley Signature Series (named after master brewer Alan Pugsley) XXXX IPA from Shipyard. We get a lot of beers from Shipyard (Portland, Maine) here, but seldom the likes of this...
The taste is all at once complex, like a puzzle you want to solve. Both hoppy and malty, then bitter then chewy, then a long mellow finish. And that is just the first sip...
This really shows what Shipyard can do when they set their brewer loose. This, my friends, is candy for grown ups and you will savor every last drop."
XXXX IPA is part of the Pugsley's Signature Series line brewed by Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland, Maine. XXXX IPA is a non-traditional American IPA with a brilliant copper color and the classic citrus nose of Cascade Hops. This beer demonstrates a unique balance of malt-inspired, delicate red grapefruit sweetness and lingering hop dryness.

Capt'n Eli's Soda Draft Truck--A Really Cool Summer Job
Draft-Truck-2.jpg)
This weeks edition of Capital Weekly showcased the Capt'n Eli's Soda Draft Truck in an article written by Judy Yeaton. The draft truck features taps of all seven flavors of soda off the side of the truck and travels New England all Summer long handing out samples of the delicious soda. Capt'n Eli's Soda is brewed and bottled by Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland, Maine.
"Augusta — Folks walking along Water Street late in the afternoon of Aug. 13 may have experienced a little draft; but it wasn't the kind that blows through the air and sends a chill up the spine.
Rather, it was the kind that 18-year-old Brandon Bagley was serving from the spigots on the side of his "draft truck," a bright red van parked in front of Downtown Gifts and Crafts at 319 Water St.
But it's not what you think. The draft brew the blond, blue-eyed teen was serving up and giving away free to passersby wasn't beer, it was soda pop. More specifically, it was Capt'n Eli's Soda made by Shipyard Brewing, the same Portland company that is perhaps better known for its many Maine-brewed beers.
Which kind of explains the purpose of the soda-spouting draft truck that Bagley, of New Gloucester, said he's been driving to various promotional events all over the state this summer. His stop in Augusta coincided with the monthly wine-tasting held that evening at Downtown Gifts and Crafts, which, in addition to a vast variety of wines, also stocks Capt'n Eli's Soda. Owner Louanne Manter said she's been selling the Shipyard soda since May.
"They said, 'Hey, we see you do wine-tastings and we'd love to send our truck,' " Manter said. "I thought it was great, they really support their product."
Adding that the sweet, carbonated beverage is a popular item in her shop, Manter pointed out that because it's gluten-free it's the only kind of soda some of her customers can drink.
Capt'n Eli's soda is also caffeine-free, made with real fruit juices, sweetened with cane sugar and comes in seven tasty flavors: Orange Pop, Blueberry Pop, Strawberry Pop, Root Beer, Ginger Beer, Lemon Lime and Parrot Punch.
"The root beer and blueberry are the most popular," said Bagley, describing the flavors he serves the most from his truck-side taps. "But the blueberry is heaven."
Judging by the young man's big grin, so isn't his job.

A lot of beer for a little state!
Luke Livingston, author of Maine's largest beer blog, www.blogaboutbeer.com, has a great article in today's Lewiston Sun Journal examining the Maine craft beer scene. In the article, Livingston includes an interview he had with Shipyard Brewing's brewmaster Alan Pugsley in which Pugsley credits the success of Maine beer to "good craftsmanship and quality products."
